We are very pleased to present the 2021 Season Yearbook on behalf of the Yarrawarrah Tigers Committee.
Another COVID hit year certainly didn't dampen our spirits and the only downside of the season being cancelled, was that some teams didn't get the chance to finish off their season in style. We had three teams pushing for Premierships this year with the U14 Silver's top of the table when the season was cancelled and the U11 Bronze and U11 Silver teams comfortably sitting in second place, ready to make a charge.
This year our registrations grew to 92 players, 83 boys and 9 girls (another increase on last years numbers). 34 Tigers players sought transfers to other clubs but this included 13 players joining merged teams, bringing the actual number down to 21. 20 players joined the Tigers from other clubs which is a massive improvement on last years total of 7.
This year we fielded 8 teams, 2 of which were merged with the Bosco Bulldogs in the U12's and the Como Crocs in the U17's. Our standalone teams included an U6 team, two U7 teams, two U11 teams and an U14 team. This year we also ran our first Tiger Cubs program with 12 players signing up and it proved to be a huge success with 4 Cubs going on to play with the U6 team.
We enjoyed some memorable weekends at Yarrawarrah Oval this season and one of the highlights was to welcome the merged U17 team back to their spiritual home in a game against the Dragons. It was such a welcome sight to have senior football back at Yarrawarrah and we hope for more games next season. There was a marked improvement in results this year and it was pleasing to see players confidence and skills improve from the season before. We hope to build on this in 2022 and we also have some exciting news to share ahead of next year. We will be launching a new Tigers playing kit and merchandise next year and we also hope to field our first ever girl tag teams.
There are many people who do such a great job in keeping the club running and a lot of this work goes unnoticed. I would like to mention a couple of people who have gone above and beyond this year;
Tyler, Shane, David, Matt and Darren who were always on hand to set the ground up each home game
Amanda B and Adam who did their fair share on the BBQ and all the parents who picked up the tongs on game day
Michelle who did a sterling job in the canteen and kept everything ticking over, even when we were getting smashed.
Nardia and Millie for running our first Tiger Cub program-the cubs and parents had a great time
The Tigers Committee who were often called upon to volunteer all weekend due to the fixture schedule.
The teams coaches, managers and trainers-thank you for giving your time and sharing your expertise with the kids-they really appreciated it
Our sponsors, without you we wouldn't have a club and your generosity and support has made a big difference
Finally, to all Tiger families, thank you for choosing our club and making it such a special place to be during footy season.
We also hope to increase our playing numbers and given the amount of interest shown in the club in 2022 we hope to register a couple more teams next year. This all points to an exciting season ahead and I hope to welcome back every player from the season just finished as well as a number of new families joining the Tigers for the first time.
We couldn't be more proud of the players representing the Tigers and we hope to welcome you all back in season 2022.
